Pledge Policy
- Attendance
- There will be at least six (6) meetings. Attendance is mandatory.
- If a pledge is going to be absent, the Pledge Mentor must be notified before the missed Pledge Meeting.
- Only valid excuses will be accepted, such as illness or death (not their own). Some exceptions can be made. All other excuses will be rejected and they will be marked absent.
- All missed quizzes and information will be made available according to the schedule of the Pledge Mentor and/or Big Brother.
- Pledges have one (1) week to make up quizzes. Otherwise, they will receive a zero.
- Quizzes
- There will be at least four (4) quizzes plus a final exam.
- Each pledge must acquire a cumulative average of at least 80%.
- If a pledge has achieved the minimum required average, they have the option of not taking the final exam.
- Those who do NOT meet the quiz average requirement MUST take the final exam.
- Projects
- The pledges will be required to plan and execute one (1) service project, one (1) fundraiser, and one (1) fellowship to the brotherhood.
- Interviews
- Pledges MUST interview all Active Members, all other Pledges, one (1) Advisor, one (1) Alumni Member, one (1) Staff Member, and at least two (2) Active Members from other chapters.
- Interviews may be done either face-to-face or through other means (i.e., Instant Messenger, E-mail, telephone). Interviews are verified by having the subject sign the pledge’s pledge books. If interviews are done over the internet, they should be printed out and presented to Pledge Mentor.
- The Pledge Mentor will establish a schedule by which interviews must be done (i.e. a certain # of interviews done each week). Pledges who don’t keep up will lose points on their next pledge quiz.
- Dues
- Pledges MUST fully pay all dues and fees before becoming admitted to the brotherhood.
- Those who need help in paying (i.e., a payment plan) must contact either the Pledge Mentor or the Treasurer.
- General
- If ALL requirements are NOT met, the possible outcomes of a consensus by the Active Members of the brotherhood are:
- Brothering, or
- Continuance of the pledge process.
