  • Graduate student Yiyu Li won the student travel grant for 2015 MS&T in Columbus, OH. Congratulations!
  • On May 17-21, Dr. Wu's group attended the ACERS GOMD-DGG joint annual meeting held in Miami, FL, USA.
    • Yin Liu presented "Processing and characterization of Eu: Ba2Zr2Si3O12 optical ceramics" and "Spectroscopic and electrical properties of CuAlO2 optical ceramics".
    • Yiyu Li presented "Cr2+ doped ZnS polycrystalline transparent ceramics."
  • Dr. Wu's group attended the 39th International Conference & Exposition on Advanced Ceramics & Composites, Jan 25-30, 2015 at Daytona Beach, FL, USA
    • Dr. Wu served as session chair and gave two invited talks entitled "Transparent ceramic chips for solid-state laser applications" and "Benign processing of complex-shaped transparent ceramics".
    • Yin Liu presented "Photoluminescence study of trivalent ion doped CuAlO2 fibers".
    • Yan Yang presented "Reduction mechanism of Eu3+ to Eu2+ in oxide ceramics".
    • Yiyu Li presented "Spectroscopic properties of (Mn,Nd) codoped zinc sulfide powder".
    • Mui presented "Optoelectronic properties of Zn-based transparent conductive oxide films".

     

    • Graduate student Yin Liu attended the 2013 Materials Research Society Fall Meeting & Exhibition in Boston, MA, USA and presented "Surface Modified Nanoparticles Reinforced Electrospun Membrance".
    • Prof. Wu attended the 10th Pacific Rim Conference on Ceramic and Glass Technology in San Diego, CA, gave a talk on the processing of transparent ceramics by designing a new spontaneous gelling system
    • Prof. Wu attended the 12th International Conference on Ceramic Processing Science in Portland, Oregon, giving the talk on europium doped yttrium aluminum garnet transparent ceramics.
    • Prof. Wu gave the invited talk entitled processing of anisotropic transparent ceramics and single crystal conversion in the 5th International Symposium on Advanced Ceramics, organized by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, China, 2013.
    • Prof. Wu attended the 9th Laser Ceramics Symposium in Daejeon, South Korea. The invited presentation was on transparent laser ceramics with anisotropic crystallographic structures. During his stay in South Korea, he also gave two invited talks in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology entitled electrohydrodynamic processing of materials and perspectives and challenges of transparent optical ceramics.
    • Prof. Wu attended MS&T 2013 in Montreal, Canada and gave two invited talks entitled Environmentally-friendly gel-casting of transparent optical ceramics and Fast sintering of transparent optical nanoceramics.
    • Prof. Wu attended MS&T 2012 and gave two invited talks entitled densification and grain growth through fast sintering process and development of anisotropic Sr5(PO4)3F optical ceramics.
