Alfred University Student Senate

Welcome!

The Alfred University Student Senate acts as a link between students, student organizations, and the campus administration. The Senate encourages communication and cooperation between clubs and acts as a forum for students’ comments and complaints. Through its Finance Committee, the Senate is also responsible for disbursing funds to student clubs and organizations; this money comes from students’ activity fees and is distributed according to budgets developed in cooperation with the Finance Committee.

The Senate meets every Wednesday at 8:00 PM in Nevins Theater. Anyone at all can come to our meetings and participate in discussions. (Voting is limited to AU student clubs and organizations that have participated in Senate for one year.) Senate meetings are conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order, the standard rulebook for parliamentary procedure in the United States. For more information about Robert’s Rules, see the official web site or the Wikipedia article.
