The use of class time is an important aspect of the AUCI.  Class activities incorporate common active learning strategies such as think/pair/share and problem-based learning.  It is highly recommended that students complete all activities, but it is essential that students complete the activities containing new content and the activities that are referenced elsewhere.

Chapter  * New content  † Referenced elsewhere
1:    ---    Activity 1.5
2:    Activities 2.3, 2.4, 2.6    Activities 2.1, 2.2, 2.3,
   2.4, 2.6
3:    Activities 3.1, 3.2    ---
4:    Activities 4.1, 4.3    Activities 4.1, 4.2, 4.3
5:    ---    Activities 5.1, 5.4, 5.5
6:    Activity 6.1    Activities 6.1, 6.3, 6.4
7:    ---    Activity 7.5
8:    Activities 8.1, 8.4    Activities 8.1, 8.4, 8.6

The activities, however, are not always intended to fill a full class meeting.  Instructors may choose to spend some class time on reviewing the current lesson, discussing homework problems, incorporating additional activities, covering supportive or supplementary material, or even giving a preview of the content of the next lesson.  Class meetings may be further enhanced with other forms of technology (hand-held, software, online, etc.) and may be incorporated into the course as needed or desired, depending on the preferences of the instructor.
