I. NYSAA TEAM ATLATL
COMPETITION CHAIRMAN 1.
The officers shall, at the annual fall meeting of the New York State
Atlatl Association, appoint a Team Atlatl Competition Chairman for the
following season.
2. The Team Atlatl
Competition Chairman will accept and maintain team rosters, keep and
publish the results of all competitions, establish the championship
bracketing based on the rules, oversee the championship, and handle all
other matters necessary to the operation of the season.
3. All decisions related to interpretation of
the NYSAA Team Atlatl Competition rules (NYSAA By-law #1) will be at the
sole discretion of the Team Atlatl Competition Chairman, whose decision
shall be final.
4. The Team Atlatl Competition Chairman will forward to
the NYSAA Secretary/Treasurer a copy of the schedule, the team rosters,
the results of team atlatl competitions, the results of the championship,
and other
pertinent information regarding team atlatl competition.
5. The Team Atlatl Competition Chairman will issue an
end of the season report to the officers of NYSAA at the annual fall NYSAA
meeting.
II.
NYSAA TEAM ATLATL COMPETITION SCHEDULING
1. The Team
Atlatl Competition Chairman will accept requests for team atlatl
competition events from NYSAA member groups or individual members of
NYSAA pursuant to NYSAA sponsorship guidelines.
2. Requests for team atlatl competition events must be
received by the Team Atlatl Competition Chairman before 1 April of each
year.
III. NYSAA ATLATL TEAMS
1. Teams will be limited to NYSAA affiliated
groups (Tyoga Atlatl Association, Genesee Valley Association, Chautauqua
Spears, and Renegade Atlatl). Each team will pay an entry fee of $15 to
the Secretary/Treasurer of NYSA by 1 April, to cover the costs of team
atlatl.
2. Teams will consist of members of NYSAA affiliate
groups or NYSAA members whose names are filed with the Team Atlatl
Competition Chairman by 1 April. Teams may list as many members of their
respective association as desired; however, only three (3) listed members
may participate in competition at a given event. The high ISAC score from
2006 (or most recent competitive year) for each team member must be
included on the team roster for handicapping purposes.
3. An individual listed on the roster of two (2)
different teams may compete on more than one (1) team if no other members
of the second team are available to compete and it is necessary in order
to field a team. No team can have more than two (2) substitutes at a given
competition.
4. Each team will designate a captain whose duties
shall be to file the team roster, file the $15 entry fee, and have the
team prepared to participate at each competition, including the
championship.
5. A team must compete in a minimum of three (3)
regular season competitions to qualify for the championship.
IV. NYSAA TEAM ATLAL
REGULAR SEASON FORMAT
1. The target for competition will be an official
archery target.
2. Using 2006 high ISAC (or last recorded year) scores:
A. A team member who
threw a 59 or less will throw from 5, 8, 10, 15, and 20 meters.
B. A team member who
threw from 60 to 75 will throw from 8, 10, 15, 20, and 25 meters.
C. A team member who
threw from 76 to 89 will throw from 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 meters.
D. A team member who
threw 90 or above will throw from 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 meters.
3. The scoring will be based upon the numbers on an
official archery target. Each team member will throw two darts from each
distance as handicapped in 2. above. Each member of the team will throw
his/her darts from the first handicapped distance for each member, and
after scoring the darts will be removed. The team score will be the
aggregate scoring of the three (3) team members.
4. Team members must compete as a group; it is not
necessary to compete in direct competition against other teams during the
scheduled regular season. Teams may compete only once during each regular
season competition, and all team competition must occur on the scheduled
day of each regular season competition during scheduled ISAC periods, or
with approval of the Team Atlatl Competition Chairman.
5. Teams may not score themselves. Team aggregate
scores will be used to determine team placement at each regular season
event.
Team atlatl competition score sheets will be available
for downloading from the Team Atlatl Competition Chairman. Team atlatl
score sheets must be mailed or e-mailed to the Team Atlatl Competition
Chairman within one (1) week after the conclusion of each scheduled
regular season competition.
V. NYSAA TEAM ATLATL CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
1. Team standings at the conclusion of the
scheduled regular season will be used to bracket teams for the
championship. The championship will be based on direct competition between
two (2) bracketed teams, with
the winning team advancing until a final winner is determined. The total
aggregate team scores from each regular season competition, divided
by the number of regular season competitions in which the team competed,
will be used to determine bracketing. The Team Atlatl Competition
Chairman will establish and publicize said bracketing.
2. Teams may not score themselves. The official scorer
will toss a coin to determine which team has the choice of throwing first
or throwing second. Each member of one team will throw his/her darts
from the first
handicapped distance for each member, and after scoring the darts will be
removed. Each member of the second team will then throw likewise. The
teams will alternate throwing first for each consecutive round and
will continue until the competition is completed. No rotation of
order needs to occur within the individual team.
3. Scores must be turned in to the Team Atlatl
Competition Chairman or his designate upon completion of the team’s
competition. The team championship score will be the aggregate scoring for
the
three (3) team members in the championship event only. Team championship
aggregate scores will be used to determine which teams are eliminated and
which continue to the final round whereby a winning
team is determined.
4. NYSAA will present the rotating team trophy to the
yearly team atlatl competition championship winner, who will retain the
trophy until the next championship.
