The W. Varick Nevins III High School Mathematics Competition

The Nevins Competition was first held in 1968 in memory of Varick Nevins ('32), former AU student and professor of mathematics, and is hosted by the Division of Mathematics on the first Friday of each November. Any high school student may participate in the competition which consists of a 75-minute, 30-question multiple-choice exam written by the members of the mathematics faculty. Awards include scholarships to AU and cash prizes for top individual scorers and an engraved plaque for the top team score.
